Zimmer Biomet Uses VR to Showcase their Medical Device Products and Services
Zimmer Biomet is an innovative leader in creating orthopedic medical devices and the healthcare industry. At the AAOS Conference (American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons), Zimmer Biomet showcased their Signature Solutions platform using a custom VR experience. The AAOS event is the world’s largest exhibition of orthopedic products.
The Zimmer Biomet Signature Solutions platform is a suite of products and services that runs from patient pre-admission, providing a personalized surgical plan before an incision is made, to patient flow and post-discharge care. The VR experience was created with their agency Boyden & Youngblutt and Groove Jones.
Mobile VR as a Sales Tool
The Zimmer Biomet sales force was given a preview of the experience through a private enterprise mobile application which highlighted the core elements of the platform. The salesforce also received a custom-branded VR viewer that fits conveniently in their pocket and can be used with the mobile App. This allows them to carry their sales demos on their personal devices.
VR to Demo Medical Products
The VR Lounge area was located within the center of the 20,000 square foot Zimmer Biomet booth. It featured 6 stations outfitted with Samsung Gear VR headsets. Each headset was preloaded with a custom application that allows customers to view the product demo and interact with over 6 minutes of content.
The VR experience takes the user through the key parts of the Zimmer Biomet Signature Solutions product. Each one focusing in on the various stages of a surgery experience. Doctors, surgeons, hospital, and healthcare administrators had the opportunity to see the products and software systems in a unique and innovative approach.
VR Allows Healthcare Providers to Step Into the Product Demo
Once you have the headset on, you are focused on a 6-minute demonstration, completely isolated with no distractions. Hundreds of customers stepped away excited and inspired by what they had just witnessed. The VR experience becomes a digital tool that allows the sales team to take the conference along with them. Transporting their customers into what was physically available at the event.
Customers can interact within the spaces and learn more about key features.
