It has finally happened – VR for kids is officially here. Toymaker Mattel has just upgraded the classic View-Master into modern day VR viewing, making it the first official kid targets VR viewer on the market.
Today the VR View-Master started to appear on several major retailer sites which include – Target.com, WalMart.com, Amazon.com, and is available for purchase for $30!
I have tried the new View-Master and it is impressive. Compared to putting cardboard on your child’s face, this viewer is meant to hold up to some heavy usage.
The new View-Master is an impressive piece of hardware and will be easy for kids to catch the VR fever.
Just like Google Cardboard viewers, the new View-Master uses your iPhone or Android device to run VR mobile apps to show the content. The Apps are free to download and $15 to unlock the content.
- View-Master Space – iPhone App or Android App
- View-Master Destinations – iPhone App or Android App
- View-Master Wildlife – iPhone App or Android App
The VR content is mostly a mix of CGI content, static images and motion graphics.
Age recommendations are 7 and up, which includes me. Thank goodness!
