What is a Real-Time Rendered VR Experience?

When we say real-time rendered, it means that the experience is being dynamically generated around you in real time. Think of it as being inside of a video game, you can move and interact with your surroundings, unlike watching a video.

The HTC Vive allows you to not only interact within the experience, it allows you to walk around. Below is a video showing how participants of the McDonald’s V-Artist experience interacted with the VR content.

Another example is how AUDI is using the HTC Vive in their showrooms to dynamically customize a vehicle.

In our VR Kitchen experience, participants can walk into a virtual kitchen, change the counter and cabinet materials, pick up objects, cook a pizza, open the fridge and even toast some bagels. This is fully interactive and all you need to do to clean up is hit reset.

HTC Vive and Oculus Headsets

To literally step into a real-time rendered VR experience you need to use a “tethered” headset. Meaning it is connected to a high performance PC. This is what allows the interaction and the rendering.

HTC Vive is a virtual reality headset developed in a co-production between HTC and Valve Corporation.  This technology is best used for displaying fully immersive 360º content and for deploying fully interactive experiences.
