Holiday Reindeer Dash AR Facebook Ad Campaign for Verizon Shopping Promotion
For the holiday shopping season, Groove Jones and the Facebook Creative Studio worked with Verizon to create an AR face game that drove traffic to Verizon’s shopping promotions.
The campaign leveraged the fun and sharable aspects of a camera-enabled AR experience on the social platform with a unique game twist to stand out and generate excitement. The goal of the game is to create a fun experience that transforms the user into a fun reindeer character while showcasing Verizon as an excellent destination for the holiday shopping season.
The AR experience was supported by an ad campaign that ran on Facebook during the holiday season.
Overview of the Game
The game starts by using the forward-facing camera to capture the user’s face and integrates it into the body of an animated reindeer. By using facial recognition, we were able to add a red (Rudolph) inspired nose and rosy cheeks to the user’s face in real-time. Game controls are easy and intuitive. By using facial image tracking, the user-controlled the reindeer character back and forth by moving their head to the left and right.
Players earned points by positioning themselves to catch gifts dropping from the sky. By opening their mouth, they would make the reindeer character jump. The character displays a live video feed of the player’s face, which adds to the humor of the experience.
The game was promoted throughout Facebook during the holiday season.
