Amazon Fashion New Year New You AR Pop Up Store Experience

Celebrating the New Year – Using Augmented Reality to See Fashion and Fitness Everywhere with AR Pop Up Experience

To celebrate the new year, Groove Jones helped Amazon use AR (Augmented Reality) at a health and wellness event. The private event was held in New York and included some of the top fashion social media influencers and bloggers. iPads were setup around various stations at the event for the guests to interact and engage with the AR experience.

The experience was built using Apple’s new ARKit technology. This technology enables iPhone and iPad devices with iOS 11 to view and interact specially built AR content.

Social Share the AR Experience

The AR App allowed guests to select different workout routines as well as different outfits. The guests could then record and share the fun they were having with these AR lenses to a variety of different social platforms. Below are some shots shared on Instagram.

The scans of the talent were captured using a rig of 130 DSLR cameras, all precisely calibrated to capture each critical area of geometry we needed. Using a full surround camera array allows us to capture all the geometry and texture information we need instantly. Each instantaneous capture yields around 3 gigapixels of surround data to create a high quality 3D model.

The App included the features for the user to place the 3d animations of the talent anywhere that there was a flat surface. The user can then set the desired workout routines and then cycle through a variety of Mission athletic wear designs.
